Memories

"Memory is a way of holding on to the things you love,

the things you are,

the things you never want to lose."

I can’t believe how fast the last 3 weeks have gone by. It is just insane to me. Today is the last day in our house. I have so many mixed emotions.

This last week when I was busily packing, I couldn’t help but feel so emotional at times. For me, one of the worst was when Coopers room was empty. I sat there and just cried and cried. So many precious moments took place in that room for me. I brought each of my babies home from the hospital to that room. I snuggled them so close, and thanked my Heavenly Father for each of them, on numerous occasions, in that room. I did my best to comfort them, and cried tears of sadness when I couldn’t. I rocked them to sleep, and feel to sleep rocking them.  I tickled them tell we both laughed so hard. I rubbed them in baby lotion after baths just to smell their sweet little bodies.  I got overwhelmed by the huge responsibility of being a parent. I felt many tender moments in that room. It makes me sad.

Every corner of this house holds a memory for me.  From being a little girl, and coming up to visit Grandma and Grandpa at the farm, to starting my own family. Oh my gosh…..

There was NEVER a time I walked through that front door where I didn’t get the best welcome from my Grandparents. They were always so exited to see us.  I remember watching Grandma make bread in the kitchen. She had this huge bowl, and wire whisk. She did it all by hand. That is saying something considering the size of the batch she would make. Oh what I would give for a few more hours with her, so she could teach me her tricks of the trade. I have her recipe, but it doesn’t taste the same. I guess it is missing her love!!!

She always would feed us Schwan chicken strips, or little Tony’s pizzas. She was an excellent cook, but this was always our request. I still have the little pizza pan that she would cook them on. I don’t know why something like that is important. Silly really, but it means something to me.  I remember she always had Mambas and Big Hunks in the cupboard for my dad.  I also remember walking downstairs and getting in the deep freezer, and opening that gallon sized jar she had full of mini chocolate chips, and eating them by the handfuls.  Oh man, just so many little things…

My Grandma had an amazing garden. She loved it, or at least I think she loved it. She was always in it. She was just an incredible woman.

After watching the News, Lawrence Welk, or something of its nature (if you could watch a show in between him changing the channel), my Grandpa was off to the bathroom. The bathroom on occasion still smells like my Grandpa. He would spend the LONGEST time in the bathroom every night.  I honestly still do not know what he did in there for so long, but it was a ritual.

We had so many get togethers, with Aunts & Uncles, Cousins, and people we love. Every 4th of July we would come up and spend the day with Aunt Lisa, and Uncle Dave, and my California cousins. We spent hours running around, and playing hard. We would jump down the stairs onto the big red bean bag chair.  How we never hit our head on the low staircase is beyond me.

That same staircase holds a very special memory for my Aunt Lori after my Uncle passed away.

There was picking rocks out of the field, driving the tractor, cutting down thistles, or lilies,  and gathering and cutting wood for Grandma and Grandpa. There wasn’t a lot of work required from us girls, but when we had to do it, I am sure there was a lot of complaining!!!

My dad spent years up here. He would drive up here before the sun came up, move pipe, drive to Rexburg, work all day, drive back up here move more pipe, then get home after the sun had gone down. He did that for years and years. What an amazing sacrifice! He is truly and inspiring person, and so is my Sweet Mom for being by his side, raising us girls, while he did this! They both are just amazing people. What a blessing I have given to have them in my life, and my kids' life.

When Jason and I decided to live up here while Grandma went on her mission to England, I would have never guessed we would be up here for 11+ years.

In those 11 years, so many things have happened. I grew as a person more in those years then any before. I spread my winds and learned to fly on my own.

So many memories!!!  Good and bad. There have been more laughs then one could imagine. More tears then one should have fall from their eyes. Sadness and Joy. Moments that could, and did take my breath away, and moments that I wish never happened, and even moments that are full of regret.  But, each moment, and memory made us who we are. They helped us grow and evolve into the people that we are! I wouldn’t change them for anything… all of these moments made me the person I am today, and molded my family.

I will be forever grateful for this humble home in Victor, ID…. for the memories I have. For the moments that have changed my life, and for the things that touched my heart.

Anyway… I could go on and on, but I won’t.

Here are to new memories. New moments to touch my heart. And new experiences with the people I love. PLEASE know that my home is always open. I hope to see everyone there often. Nothing would make me more happy.

If you want my new address, please leave me a comment with your email, so I can get it to you!!!!

We start moving tomorrow…… Aughhhhhhh…… it is just crazy!!!!!
