Jason and I celebrated our 11 year anniversary this year. We decided we would try and get away for a night. It has been over 4 years since we left all the kids overnight, and actually we have never left Cooper. I was nervous about leaving him. But we left the kiddos with Chantri Saturday morning. I am so thankful to her. My kids love to play with hers, and Cooper has always been pretty comfortable with her. 3 weeks till she was due, but she agreed with a smile, and insisted that it was okay. We joked that maybe have 3 extra kids would put her into labor, so she was hopeful for that.
Jason and I didn’t really have a destination until after we dropped them off. We decided we would head up to Bozman, Montana. Oh we had such a great time. We loved each others company, and it was wonderful not to have Bridge, Addi and Coop with us. It was even more nice to know they were in good hands.
I didn’t get the camera out until on the way home {oops}. I could move to Bozman tomorrow. It is a big enough town that you have amenities, but small enough that you have the small town feel. Not to mention it is beautiful. Wish there was work, I think we just would move there.
We had heard about this wonderful place to eat in Manhattan, Montana about 15min from Bozman called Sir Scotty’s Oasis. So I called and made reservations…they only had 2 left, so we were lucky. It was the best dinner ever! It is just a little “hole in the wall” but the food didn’t disappoint! Oh seriously it was so good. Jason had prime rib, and I had finger steaks. They were even better then my favorite restaurant Chiz’s. It was just real good!!! Maybe it tasted so delicious because it was just the 2 of us on the little 2 seat tables. Just so quaint, personal and just for us!!! We will be going back there sooner then later though. Mmmmm Mmmmm Good!
We caught a movie, check out a few little stores, got ice cream and just had a really good time!!!
On the way home we took the scenic route. We went through so many little towns along the way…
Goodbye Bozman…

We had heard that this little old school house that is now a restaurant was a wonderful place to eat at to. We didn’t eat there, but maybe another day. I love finding little places like this. It is in Norris Montana. It seriously was in the middle of nowhere. Back in 2000 the population was 109.

On our drive to Virginia City we saw some beautiful but desolate country. It was really such a pretty drive with snow capped mountains, rolling hills, and raging rivers surrounding us.
I thought it was crazy when we saw this…

This cute little antelope grazing at the Madison Valley Rural Fire District! He wasn’t disturbed by us at all!
Next stop was Virginia City, Nevada… (picture and info taken from www.virginiacity.com)

“The very much alive ghost town, Virginia City, Montana, is frozen in time. It is a remarkably well preserved old west Victorian gold mining town just 20 miles west of Yellowstone National Park (90 miles by road). When the gold ran out, there was still enough left so that homes and businesses were occupied, but there was not enough wealth to remodel the buildings. So it froze, and now represents the whole Victorian era. It is the true and original Old West. It is a gem, held within an incredibly rich area of natural beauty, recreation and history.” It really was such a neat little place. I love seeing all the history. It was amazing. Here are some of the pictures of the town and buildings in this neat little town and the town museum…

These are pictures in some of the buildings… It just looks like time froze and it was completely the same. It is just so neat.

It is crazy to think of all the Gold that went through this system. I have a great deal of respect for people from that era. They had to work so hard!

We drove down to Nevada City 1 mile down the road, but decided that we wouldn’t walk through it today. It has about 50 little buildings you can go through for a little admission price. It will be something we will do with the kids someday. They would just love it.
On own way back to town I saw this little LDS Church. It seriously was so small, and cute.

The picture doesn’t show its size. It seriously is like the size of my house. The parking lot had maybe 50 parking spots! I just thought it was so adorable.

We had to get pictures of this mom with her twins… ohhhh so cute!

That was my last picture of the weekend! We had such a great time. I can’t thank Chant and Stacey enough for watching my 3. It was so sweet of you. Thanks for making it so fun for them, and giving Jason and I a chance to have a much needed weekend away from them. We love you so much!
