Journaling directly from my heart...
This morning was one of anxious anticipation, and hoping for good new from Salt Lake.
A little over a month ago my Grandpa Jon found out that he has prostate cancer. We were all very shocked and scared, as he was having no signs and symptoms that anything was wrong (and the fact that his brother died from prostate cancer a few years ago). They told him that his cancer was an 8 out of ten, and was in the aggressive stages. We never really new exactly what that was suppose to mean-I think mostly due to not wanting to ask the questions you really didn't want to hear the answers too. Everyone was trying to be optimistic until he was able to meet with the cancer specialist is SLC. It was close to a week before he had his first appointment at the Cancer Institute. Then more waiting after a bone scan was done to see if the cancer was in his bone...clean bill of health there...1 blessing from our Heavenly Father. So appointment were scheduled for surgery, and over the past few weeks everyone has been praying with every ounce of faith that the cancer had not spread to him lymph nodes. If it had, we didn't think the outcome would be very promising, as we had been told that his cancer was already really aggressive. So gramps went in for surgery this morning. My mom and dad went down to be with my grandma (this is my moms parents), as the surgery would be at least 4 hours long. They told them that they would open him up and the first thing they would do would be to remove his lymph nodes and send them directly to pathology, and wait for results. If cancer was in him lymph nodes they would just close him back up, not removing his prostate and send him to chemotherapy, because that would be his best chance at this point. Well, they won't know for sure until tomorrow when they get completed test results back, but it looks as if Grandpa will get some more time with all of us. The surgeon said that most of the time if the lymph has cancer in it, it will be hard, and grandpa's weren't hard!!! So they went through with the surgery, and he is recovering. I can't thank my Heavenly Father enough for listening to our heartfelt prayers. My grandpa is one of the most amazing men I know. I am so honored to have his example of faith, loyalty, love, humility, honor, charity, ect. ect. He truly is such a wonderful person, I wasn't even close to ready to see him...
I just have to say how grateful I am for my family. There is very rarely a time that I get off the phone with them, or write an email or whatever that I don't end it with "I Love You." That has always been something that we have done growing up, and I carry that with me today. I do love them so much. I am grateful for parents and grandparents that I can look up to for examples of who I want to become. I have been very very blessed in my life to have the people that I have touch my heart on a daily basis. I am blessed to have a testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I know that my Heavenly Father is there for me when I ask for him. I know that he loves me, and wants me to succeed. I know that the prophet is true and that if I listen he can inspire me in ways that I couldn't even begin to do on my own. I am grateful to have a husband who has the priesthood in our home, and who would do anything in his power to keep us happy and healthy. I can't even put in words the feeling in my heart to explain my gratitude for Bridger and Addisyn. They, with Jason are my life. I can't imagine me without them, and can't tell my Heavenly Father Thanks enough for entrusting me with them, to teach them, love them and raise them here on earth. I am so blessed to be an eternal family, knowing that I will be with the people who are most important to me for eternity. I pray that everyone I hold dear will be with us for an eternity. You know sometime I think Heavenly Father has to put trials and tribulations in our lives so we remember to be grateful for the people that we love. My grandpa told me that is is sad that sometime is isn't until we have times like these that we pull together as a family unit. I just want to try and ALWAYS be a better person, and remember that the little things won't last forever, and they are the things that I will miss. I think often of my Grandma Betty, and the opportunities I didn't take to let he into my life a little deeper. She always always new how much I love her, but I didn't take the time to really know her inside and out, and I miss her dearly. So today I am counting my blessings...
